With The Multi-User Mod, which comes bundled for free with ImageFolio
Professional Edition, you can set group permissions for various users and define what that are permitted to do. Definable
permissions include: category viewing, skin changing, preview image viewing, image protection and/or watermarking,
full-size downloads. ImageFolio generates logs for user searches, postcards, and file downloads. ImageFolio can store
user information in the multi-user database or in another user database (i.e. from message board software).
Default databases that are supported are:
- ImageFolio's own user database.
- Any flat text file user database.
- UBB Classic user database.
- UBB Threads user database.
- DCForum user database.
- Any htaccess password file.
- vBulletin 3 user database.
- Any MySQL user database.
We also included instructions and development tools to create new "database link" files and share them with others. We've also include a test script (db_link_test.cgi) so you can test out the database link file you have modified to see if it is connecting and working properly.
Just to let you know how powerful this database linking is: we can almost guarantee that any of the scripts listed here can be used with ImageFolio as long as they have a user database. Basically anything that creates a user database will work. Note: ImageFolio will not use the .htaccess and .htpassword files that is often created by these 3rd party password scripts but rather directly plug into the user database itself!
The Multi-User Mod can be integrated with any username and password based system or a standalone MySQL database. You may want to tie the Multi-User Mod into another product if you already had a base of users on your site that are currently using another product and you don't want to have to re-register them with ImageFolio. That way they use one username and one password to access multiple areas of your site. You can then automatically assign default permissions to those users based on the default permissions you have set for this group of users in the Administration Area.
If you do not already have a user-based system or product on your site, then you would just use ImageFolio Multi-User database as-is and you can then create groups of users, with each group having its own permissions as to what that user can do.
