ImageFolio Edition 3.1 is a simple upgrade from the 3.0 versions. To make use of all the new functions we strongly advise you to redo your templates! If you plan to upgrading from ImageFolio 2.x please follow these instruction.

What You Will Need

• A licensed copy of ImageFolio Pro Edition 3.1 in Zip format
• A basic understanding of HTML
• A familiarity of installing Perl scripts
• A Zip decompression utility, such as WinZip (Win), or MacZip (Mac), or Stuffit Expander (Mac)
• A text editor, such as EditPlus (Win) or BBEdit (Mac)
• An FTP (File Transfer Protocol) utility, such as WS_FTP (Win), CuteFTP (Win), or Fetch (Mac)
• An image editor, such as Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro
• A Web server running Perl 5 or greater (either ActivePerl, MacPerl or the standard Perl distribution)
• Ability to run CGI scripts on your Web server

ImageFolio Upgrade Installation

1. Follow the installation instructions here: Installing ImageFolio Pro Edition 3.1.
   
   
2. Copy the following directory from:
   
   
   cgi-bin/ImageFolio3/data (your current "data" directory)
   
   To:
   
   
   cgi-bin/ImageFolio31/data
   
   Make sure that ALL the files and directories are writable (CHMOD 777)
   
   
3. Copy the following directory from:
   
   
   ImageFolio3_files/gallery (your current "gallery" directory)
   
   To:
   
   
   ImageFolio31_files/gallery
   
   Make sure that ALL the files (also the jpg's) and directories are writable (CHMOD 777)
   
   
   
4. Remember to set the following values to "1" if you previously used them for you IFPro 3.0 installation and plan to keep on using them:
   
   # DID YOU UPGRADE FROM IMAGEFOLIO 2.x AND YOU WANT TO KEEP AND USE THE OLD DATEBASE?
# Please specify if you want to keep on using the old database system.

   # SEARCHING:
# This is now being replace with IPTC searching. However, they can work together
$if2_search = 1;

   # CAPTION
# This is now being replace with IPTC captioning. However, they can work together
$if2_caption = 1;

   #THUMB CAPTION
# This is now being replace with IPTC thumnail captioning. However, they can work together
$if2_thumbcaption = 1;

   
   
5. Open your Web browser and type in the URL to imageFolio.cgi. If everything was installed correctly, you will see that your gallery has been updated. Click on the any category to verify that everything is working properly. If things do not look correct, check your paths and settings in config.pl and try again.
